Like so many at-risk and vulnerable families around the globe, the families of our sponsored-school community have been left reeling due to the effects of COVID-19.  These families face paralyzing fears of leaving their isolated community seeking basic essentials like food and medicines.  Seeking these needs outside of the community would increase their risk of exposure to the virus. In a community where 100% of families already experience extreme poverty, we know we have to shift the focus of our support, at this time, to more urgent and time-sensitive needs. We are now providing supplemental aid in the form of life-saving food, medicines and hygiene products for each of the children in our beloved school community and their families. 

Since the beginning of the pandemic, our 3 grassroots organizations, NicaLove, Amor Por Los Ninos and Spread Aloha to the World, joined forces and collaboratively committed to raising funds to provide supplemental food, hygiene and medicine aid to the 29 children who attend the school. Fundraising for this project began in April and by early June we were able to purchase and distribute aid packages providing life-saving medicines and supplemental food for each family. The survival of our sponsored-school community during this challenging time depends on generous contributions to help alleviate the risk of this pandemic pushing these families into even greater levels of poverty with little access to food or medicine. Fortunately with work of NicaLove, Amor For Los Ninos and Spread Aloha to the World, these children are still attending school daily with full bellies and some relief from the effects of COVID-19. 

To date, we have successfully delivered 4 months of aid and we are currently accepting donations for the 5th month. Based on such generous donations last month, we were able to extend our reach to additional families (beyond the 29) who we learned were in grave danger due to no income or access to outside support. In total, 41 families were supported last month. It was amazing! 

The supplemental aid packages cost just $30 a month per family. We are committed to serve the 29 school children and their families but we’d love to continue to support all 41 families who have come to us in need.  Your gift of $30/month will provide medicine, food and hygiene aid to one family.  We’d love your support for as many months as you are comfortable and able to offer.
